The Massachusetts Medical Device Industry Council (MassMEDIC) will honor Mary Anne Heino, current Board Chair and former CEO of Lantheus at its Annual Medtech Impact Gala on March 6 at the Renaissance Boston Seaport Hotel. Ms. Heino, who also served as MassMEDIC’s immediate past Chair, will receive the Impact Award in recognition of her lifetime contributions to patient care and leadership in the medical technology industry.

"Our Annual Medtech Impact Gala is a celebration of the impact medical technology has on patients’ lives,” said Brian Johnson, President, MassMEDIC. “We are proud to recognize our immediate past Chair, Ms. Heino, for a career helping patients around the world. In addition to her industry achievements, Ms. Heino served as MassMEDIC’s Board Chair from May 2023 to May 2024, providing strategic guidance to advance the region’s medtech ecosystem.

“During her time on the MassMEDIC Board and the Executive Committee, Mary Anne asked tough questions, gave great advice and made us all step up our game,” said Johnson. “I am so thankful to have worked with her to grow this organization to new heights.”

Previous recipients of the Impact Awards were Chuck Alpuche, retired Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, Insulet Corporation, Dr. Thea James, MD, MPH, Vice President of Mission and Associate Chief Medical Officer, Boston Medical Center, and Executive Director of the Health Equity Accelerator. Last year, Michael Minogue, former President and CEO of Abiomed was honored for his service in pioneering the field of heart recovery.

This year, the Impact Gala will feature a stage 3 colorectal cancer survivor, Justin Kelly, RN, BSN, MBA, Noctrix Health’s Senior Vice President, Patient Access, who will share his story of how perseverance, self-advocacy, and access to an experimental immunotherapy saved his life. With a delayed diagnosis due to the pandemic, Justin will share how at 46, a stool-based test from a local medtech company led not only to his diagnosis of advanced rectal cancer, but a genetic mutation of Lynch syndrome. March 2025 is Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month.

Prior to the Gala, MassMEDIC is once again hosting its full-day Medtech Impact Symposium, which will feature uncommonly candid day-long discussion of how the industry is changing and how we position ourselves to succeed. Focusing on technologies and approaches poised to shape our markets, the key theme of this year’s Symposium is multidimensional ruggedness and adaptability in the face of uncertainty. The event will also take a deep dive into the impact of medical technology on care within three distinct areas: Cardiac Health, Diabetes, and Musculoskeletal Health.
