MassMEDIC Supports New U.S. Senate Bill to Repeal Destructive Tax on MedTech

Press Releases

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE March 7, 2019

Boston, Mass. – Brian Johnson, president of the Massachusetts Medical Device Industry Council (MassMEDIC), issues the following statement on the introduction of the Protect Medical Innovation Act – in the U.S. Senate to permanently repeal the medical device excise tax:

“We would like to thank Sens. Pat Toomey (R-Pa.) and Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) for introducing a new bill, aimed at permanently repealing the 2.3% medical device excise tax. This destructive and regressive tax, will cost the Commonwealth high paying engineering jobs and, ultimately, impact patients, if it is not stopped now.”

“We look forward to the House introducing companion legislation in the near future and pledge to work with our entire congressional delegation in New England to ensure that this burdensome tax is eliminated once and for all.”
