MassMEDIC IGNITE’s CoreMap Secures Series B Funding Bringing Total Raised by IGNITE Alumni to $100M
The Massachusetts Medical Device Industry Council (MassMEDIC) announced today that CoreMap, a 2019 member of the MassMEDIC IGNITE MedTech Accelerator has secured $23M in Series B funding. This latest investment in an IGNITE alumni startup brings the total funding raised by IGNITE companies to $100M.
CoreMap is among a stellar group of 50 medtech startups that have completed the IGNITE program since its relaunch in 2019. IGNITE offers founders mentorship from leaders of the largest medtech organizations in New England, experiential training, and investor introductions, all 100% free of charge.
“We are grateful to have participated in MassMEDIC’s IGNITE Program,” said Sarah Kalil, CEO and co-founder of CoreMap. “The experience of the program, the network of contacts and the MassMEDIC community of support continues to be of great value to us.”
The goal of IGNITE is to attract and nurture the next generation of medtech founders and entrepreneurs, creating a pipeline of medtech startups who will help fuel the future of the Commonwealth’s medtech ecosystem by establishing offices, hiring teams, and engaging with the MassMEDIC community.
“It’s such a pleasure to work with the organizations and individuals in IGNITE and see the cutting-edge technologies they are developing,” said Rachel Robinson, chief operating officer of MassMEDIC. “The success our IGNITE alumni have had, including Sarah Kalil and her team at CoreMap, is a testament that IGNITE and partnerships with our MassMEDIC members are working to bolster the start-up community in the greater New England region.”
The program has attracted startups from across the Commonwealth, the U.S. and globally, with a focus on inclusion and diversity among its founders including 60% percent female founders in the last cohort (43% female founders across all three cohorts).
In addition to CoreMap, many of the IGNITE alumni have gone on to achieve great success, including:
Agile Devices, which received FDA approval for their ANGLER™ Microcatheter
Alva Health, MedTech Innovator Winner (2021 Global Competition)
