The Massachusetts Medical Device Industry Council (MassMEDIC) congratulates Medtech IGNITE Accelerator Program alumni, Phiex Technologies, on winning the grand prize at this year’s MedTech Innovator Awards during Advamed’s MedTech Conference in Boston, MA.

Boston-based Phiex Technologies’ develops self-sterilizing materials. The company seeks to create a cost-effective and environmentally safe option for manufacturers, including for the medical device industry.

CEO, CL Tian leads the company in the development of Phiex’s technology, which uses common packaging materials including plastic film or nonwoven material to sterilize devices. Phiex beat out more than 50 other startups to win the Grand Prize of $350,000.

“We are so excited for the success of CL and Phiex Technologies,” said Rachel Robinson, President of MassMEDIC’s IGNITE Accelerator Program and Chief Operating Officer of MassMEDIC. “This is just one success story within our amazing medtech ecosystem in Massachusetts and we are proud that IGNITE played a part in their journey.”

Phiex Technologies is among a stellar group of more than 55 medtech startups that have completed the IGNITE program since its relaunch in 2019. With the support of sponsors Alira HealthBoyd Technologies, Greenlight GuruAgile Search, Wilson SonsiniTeijin Pharma and the Massachusetts Life Sciences Center (MLSC), IGNITE offers founders mentorship from leaders of the largest medtech organizations in New England, experiential training, and investor introductions, all 100% free of charge.

The goal of IGNITE is to attract and nurture the next generation of medtech founders and entrepreneurs, creating a pipeline of medtech startups who will help fuel the future of the Commonwealth’s medtech ecosystem by establishing offices, hiring teams, and engaging with the MassMEDIC community.
