SanaHeal is looking for an innovative, talented, and self-motivated Engineer enthusiastic about the development and clinical translation of breakthrough bioadhesive technologies. The successful candidate will work with the team to develop and optimize novel tissue adhesive biomaterials and medical devices for broad applications. The ideal candidate should have good communication skills, teamwork capability, and timely implementation of research activities in a fast-paced startup environment.

The ideal candidate for this position is a recent graduate from Ph.D. program or a current post-doctoral researcher in the U.S. The lab is located at 100 Chestnut St., Somerville  next to the East Somerville Green-Line stop. This position is full-time (40 hours a week).

Responsibilities

• Design and optimization of biomaterials/devices for new indications including sports medicine, minimally invasive surgeries (laparoscopic/endoscopic), topical drug delivery, diagnostics, and cosmetics
• Development of analytical methods for benchtop characterizations of biomaterials and devices (mechanical, chemical, and/or biological)
• Perform experimental design, execution, and troubleshooting
• Effective communication of research outcomes through technical reports and presentations
• Support external collaborations with partners, contract organizations, and academic and industrial collaborators
• Scientific publication and intellectual property development/submission

Qualifications

• M.S. or Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or related disciplines with 4+ years of relevant experience
• Prior experience in industry preferred including product conceptualization, prototype development, and development documentation
• Strong background in polymer/soft materials and their analytical, mechanical, chemical characterizations (mechanical testing, chemical analysis with FTIR, HPLC, etc)
• Experience in in vitro and/or in vivo experiments (cell culture, animal study, etc) is preferred
• Experience with medical device design and development is strongly preferred
