ABOUT QURA:   Elevated baseline intraocular pressure (IOP) and large transient fluctuations of IOP are strong risk factors in the development and progression of glaucoma, a leading cause of irreversible blindness.  Based on patented technology, Qura is developing the first implantable active, wireless continuous IOP sensor for monitoring glaucoma progression.  The miniaturized device provides for uninterrupted twenty-four hour monitoring of intraocular pressure (IOP) in the anterior chamber, or any other site inside the eye, as desired by the surgeon.  Twenty-four-hour monitoring of IOP will drive a change in glaucoma management and facilitate timely and targeted medical or surgical intervention by the cataract and glaucoma specialist.
